Writing an ebook is a great way to showcase your writing talents. At the same time, earn some extra bucks, and provide great value to prospective readers. But very often, many writers struggle with time management. They either take forever publishing their ebook, or fail to publish at all. If this is you, ChatEbooks‘ 7-day plan will show you how to write an ebook fast. This plan will only consume 2-3 hours of your day. And, if you stick to it, you’ll have an ebook ready to publish by week’s end.
Your 7-Day Plan
Day 1: Choose Your Topic
Before you can start writing, you need to brainstorm a simple topic that will provide great value to your readers but won’t require too much extensive research. Try and choose a topic that can be covered in about 5,000 – 6,000 words. This word count is just long enough to make the content intriguing for your readers, and short enough to be completed within our 7-day plan.
Day 2: Create an Outline
Now that you’ve chosen a topic, you can start working on an outline for your book. Formulating a plan will simplify your job of writing the book which in turn will help you complete it faster. Begin by deciding how many chapters you want to include in your book. Next, make short outlines by jotting down a couple of points under each chapter. If your book requires research, conduct it during this stage and add the information to your outlined points.
Days 3, 4 and 5: Write Your Content
Three days to write a book may not seem like enough time, but if you’ve chosen a simple topic and created a concise plan, this part should be a breeze. Simply spread our goal of 5,000 – 6,000 words into three days, and aim to complete around 1,700 – 2,000 words per day.
Tips to keep you on track:
- If you have a tendency to get distracted very easy, turn off your internet, cell phone and television while you write.
- To minimize time, don’t complicate your subject matter; keep your content clear and concise.
- If you forget to include information in one of the chapters you’ve already written, don’t break stride ~ jot down the new information on a separate sheet of paper and include it during the editing process.
- Try to use a similar structure for each chapter. For example, each chapter can have 3-4 points, and each point can be discussed in 3-4 sentences.
Day 6: Edit Your Content
After you’ve finished writing the draft of your ebook, it’s time to edit your book thoroughly. First, print out a hard copy of your book and read through it once carefully. Look for spelling/grammatical errors and areas where discussion points appear to be repetitive. After you’ve made the necessary corrections, read through your book a second and third time. You should also consider having a friend or family member read your book for errors. As the Author, it’s common to overlook mistakes simply because your eyes tend to see what you “meant” to write as opposed to what you’ve actually written. Therefore, it’s beneficial to have a second set of eyes to spot the errors that you missed.
Day 7: Choose A Cover Design
You can devote the final day for choosing the cover design for your book. This step should not be underestimated because millions of prospective readers have passed over books solely based on their poor cover design. Therefore, I highly recommend hiring a professional to design a simple yet eye-catching cover for your book. Make sure you provide your designer with enough detail (synopsis, mood of the book, etc.) for him/her to create a cover that brings your book to life.
Learning how to write an ebook fast is the easy part! Now you need to take the necessary action steps that are required to get the job done. Start by selecting a starting date on your calendar, and then simply go through the steps outlined for each of the next 7 days. If you stay on schedule and plan accordingly, you’ll be a published author before you know it!
